William Seymour

William Seymour was an African American pastor from Louisiana and was a strong catalyst of the Azusa Street Revival. Upon hearing about a small group who spoke in tongues after encountering the presence of God, Seymour attended a training to understand more. Segregation laws kept Seymour in the hallway instead of in the actual training—but the Spirit of God moved in him, and he was still deeply impacted.

Spurred by what he learned, Seymour traveled to Los Angeles and preached the message that would ignite the Azusa Street Revival in the spring of 1906.
